Union Square

Union Square, San Francisco

On nice days and in my spare time I like to explore places. I used to live in this part of town so looking around was all very familiar and nostalgic.

So this is Union Square. Personally, I think the name is misleading. It is more like a rectangle.

This is probably the best photo I took that day.

Union Square is basically a plaza where people sit/eat/chit chat on nice days. Or if you're like me, a good place to people-watch.

There is also a cafe...

And this monument. I have always wondered what it was called but now know it is the Dewey Monument.

Hearts like these can be found around Union Square. Tourists like to take photos with them.

Trust me, I would know. I was one of them.

Table under tarp to relax.

Near the monument is where the Christmas tree is put. However today there appeared to be construction going on. It was not till a kind gentleman told me that a health fair had been set up the day before and it was being torn down.

Geary Street. Do you spy another humungo heart?

By the way, the man in the red shirt on the left of the picture kept angrily shoo-ing the pigeons away from him. At least he knows pigeons are disgusting. I would have gone up to him and said, "I feel your pain. Me too, man."

See, I wasn't lying when I said there was at least one cafe in the square.

EDIT: I just realized two posts ago was also about Union Square. Hmm...
